First Attempt at Scoring a Deal

I've started couponing. It's been mostly research on different couponing web sites and blogs. There are some truly amazing and inspiring blogs! In fact, the whole idea of couponing started for me when I somehow ran across The Coupon Goddess. She posts great photos of her hauls, which are generally really impressive.

So, today I put my knowledge to the test for the first time. I needed shampoo, so I took myself and my binder to CVS. I scanned my card, but sadly didn't get any coupons from the machine. However, I did use the circular to see that Renpure Organics shampoo/conditioner is BOGO this week. I looked for that, and lo and behold, there was a tag on the bottle for a Try Me Free mail-in rebate. So I essentially got both the shampoo and the conditioner free. Good first try! Now I just have to make sure I send in the rebate.

Today, in order to save a subway token, I hiked almost 2 miles from my internship to Wal-mart. I wanted to get a copy of All You, which had a coupon that I REALLY wanted (the $4/1 Quattro refill) and also a set of baseball card holder sheets for the coupon binder that I'm building. Needless to say, I'm pretty beat after all that. I suspect it may be a little more challenging to coupon for just myself. In a city. With no car. But I'm determined to try, and I'll let you all know how it goes. :)

Tomorrow I have a pretty extensive game plan worked out. If it all goes the way I hope it will, I'll be getting a LOT of stuff and actually coming out on top. I suspect that the worst part will be lugging it all home on the subway. Luckily I found a couple of areas that have either a CVS/Rite-Aid or Walgreens/Rite-Aid available very close to each other. Anyway, I'll post tomorrow with the details.
